Rylan’s ballad week gives punters chance to make X Factor money

Published:

Rylan Clark promised Gary Barlow that he would sing a ballad if he made it through last week’s X Factor and this makes 4/1 solid value that he will perform on the upcoming show without any backing dancers.

Almost the entire production budget for each of the opening four live shows have been blown on Rylan, with over-the-top costumes, a vast number of backing dancers and other fancy props.

However, with Rylan out to show a more serious side and that he does have a reasonable voice, this week he is likely to strip back the performance and as is a common phrase on the show, “it will be just him and the microphone”.

The voice isn’t everything on the X Factor and this is a result for Rylan, as he is undoubtedly the worst singer left in the competition and has already outlasted some better singers.

A strong fanbase has seen him survive until now and this does seem to have been consistently growing, but it remains to be seen if an attempt to show some versatility backfires.

He is a 10/3 joint favourite, along with District3, to be eliminated next.

However, there is the possibility that if Nicole Scherzinger picks the right song, that his performance is not the train wreck that many will predict.

Gary Barlow has not been shy in stating his opinion on Rylan’s lack of talent and it is 10/1 that Gary provides a standing ovation following the ballad.

There is no way this will be because of the quality of Rylan’s performance, but there is a small possibility that Gary will appreciate that an effort has been made to take a risk.

Alternatively, it is 33/1 that Rylan makes such an impression that all four judges feel the need to give a standing ovation.
