Real Madrid looking to hijack PSG move for Chelsea star

Ashley Cole’s protracted contract negotiations at Chelsea have alerted former coach Jose Mourinho, who now hopes to pip one of his successors at Stamford Bridge by signing him for Real Madrid.

Following their 2-1 defeat to West Brom, Cole’s current club are 11/2 shots to claim the Premier League crown as the title race looks more and more likely to be a replica of last season with every passing weekend.

The England man sat out the west Midlands defeat, with Ryan Bertrand preferred on the left-hand side of the Blues’ defence. This only added fuel to the fire of speculation that he is soon to depart the European champions.

Despite his advancing years, many still regard Cole as the premiere left back in world football and he would have no issues blending into a Real squad littered with the game’s top talent.

Paris St Germain and their untold fortunes have been courting the former Arsenal man since the summer transfer window when it first became apparent that his contract negotiations weren’t going according to plan in west London.

Chelsea’s newly-adopted policy of offering 30-somethings one year deals is the stumbling block preventing Cole from committing, but PSG would have no such issue offering him the terms he desires as they continue their quest to become the biggest gun in the game.

However, it now appears that Real are prepared to jump the queue of suitors who’re prepared to grant Cole his wish of a multiple-year deal and their appeal is sure to trump that of the one presented by a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti in Paris.

By the time the French giants are ready to challenge on a continental scale, Cole will very much be ready for retirement, whereas Los Merengues are already flourishing at that level and January move could easily see Cole claim a second Champions League crown in the near future.
