Man Utd to be among goals again after Europe against Aston Villa

Published:

Many punters will be taking advantage of the 8/15 that Manchester United continue their dominance at Villa Park, but the most profitable option may prove how many goals they put past Aston Villa.

The Red Devils are unbeaten on their last 16 visits to Villa Park and given that Paul Lambert’s men have only won two of their last 17 at home in the top-flight, there is little to suggest this run will improve here.

Those attempting to oppose Man Utd may try to use the fact that they had a midweek away expedition to Portugal in the Champions League as a sound reason for this.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have played away in all three games following European fixtures this season and won every time.

What is also significant is that Man Utd scored two or three goals on each occasion and this includes trips to Anfield and Stamford Bridge.

This may indicate that 1/1 is more than a decent price on Man Utd scoring either two or three goals at Villa Park.

The commonness of the current Premier League leaders conceding first this season has been well documented and they have let in the opener on three of their last five away encounters with Villa.

Villa have players that can threaten Man Utd’s far from watertight defence, with Christian Benteke providing a physical presence and Gabby Agbonlahor blessed with pure pace.

Agbonlahor has four goals against Man Utd to his name in the last five seasons and 10/1 is not the worst price that he breaks the deadlock here, as he did in Villa’s latest win at Sunderland.

For the visitors, Robin Van Persie is likely to start after beginning on the bench in Braga and is the obvious favourite at 3/1.
