Man City v Everton: Toffees can end City’s unbeaten run

Published:

Manchester City host an Everton side who, after a brilliant start to their season, have struggled to bag victories in recent weeks – but all that may change at the most unlikely of settings.

Looking at their recent form there should really only be one winner in this clash.

City have yet to taste defeat in the Premier League this term (their unbeaten league run now stands at 20 games) and they’ve dispatched both Aston Villa and Wigan with relative ease in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, after winning four of their first six games in the league, Everton have now won just one of their previous eight – a narrow 2-1 victory against Sunderland earlier in November.

However, they have also lost just once during that run, picking up six draws which, while not exactly propelling them up the table, has given them a solid base to build from for the rest of the season.

While that may only be of small comfort to Everton as they head to the home of the champions, their record against City should be of huge encouragement.

City have lost five of their last six clashes against David Moyes’ men and the Toffees are a rather large 11/2 to get another victory this Saturday. It’s a bet that, whilst certainly not nailed on, is well worth a punt considering their head-to-head record.

Meanwhile, the four times City have been beaten in the league in 2012 have seen the opponents run out 1-0 winners and a victory for Everton by the same scoreline is a massive 16/1.

However, if you want to play things a little safer then the draw can be backed at 3/1 – a bet that looks very tempting considering Everton’s ability to avoid defeat.

Finally, all of their previous six meetings have yielded under 3.5 goals and that outcome can be backed at 2/5.
