King of Stats: all of the numbers ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix

The Brazilian Grand Prix is the final race of the Formula One season and there are many stories heading into the race, most notably whether it will be Sebastian Vettel or Fernando Alonso that will be crowned world champion.

There are also numerous markets for punters to potentially profit from and the King of Stats is there to help highlight some of the better opportunities to make some money.

2 – Both times that Fernando Alonso has been crowned world champion, he has confirmed the title at the Brazilian Grand Prix. He has 13 points to make up on Sebastian Vettel heading into the last race this season, but is 10/3 to do so to land a third drivers’ championship in Brazil

3 – No constructor has ever won the Brazilian Grand Prix more than three times in succession, which is bad news for Red Bull given their triumphs in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Lewis Hamilton has never taken the chequered flag in Brazil and is readying for his final drive at McLaren before heading to Mercedes. He is 11/4 to win the Brazilian Grand Prix.

6 – McLaren have won six of the 19 races so far this season, one less than chief construction rivals Red Bull. It is 7/4 that Hamilton or Jenson Button win the Brazilian Grand Prix to make it seven each.

16 – The number of successive races in which Kimi Raikkonen has finished in the points. He is also the only driver to have completed every Grand Prix this season and only in China did he fail to finish in the points when some late tyre issues resulted in him losing 11 places on a single lap. He is 11/4 to finish on the podium in Brazil and 1/7 to be in the top ten.

3 – In three of the last four years, an underdog has qualified promisingly in Brazil. In 2008 Toyota’s Jarno Trulli started on the front row of the grid, Adrian Sutil’s Force India began from third spot in 2009 and Nico Hulkenberg was on pole in his Williams in 2010. Pastor Maldonado has already taken pole in the Spanish Grand Prix this season and is 66/1 to do so again in Brazil.

4 – Michael Schumacher has won the Brazilian Grand Prix four times – more than any other driver currently involved in Formula One. This is supposedly his last race before retiring from the sport for a second time and he is 100/1 to mark the occasion with a victory or 2/1 not to be classified.

2 – Mark Webber has posted the fastest lap at the Brazilian Grand Prix in two of the last three years. He is 6/1 to show his speed again and make it three in four this year.

2 – The number of times this season that a driver has completed the hat-trick of starting from pole, setting the fastest lap of a Grand Prix and then winning the race. Both have been achieved by Sebastian Vettel in Bahrain and Japan. It is 5/1 that he completes his own hat-trick in Brazil to confirm him as world champion for the third successive season.
