Grand Slam Accumulator: Part to better O’Shea in 19/1 shot

The Grand Slam of Darts’ group stage reaches it’s conclusion tonight and with a place in the last-16 on the line, for many this will be a test of mettle as well as darting ability.

This is no more applicable than in John Part’s winner-takes-all tussle with Tony O’Shea and we’re backing Darth Maple to come out on top as part of our 19/1 ‘squeaky-bum time’ fivefold.

John Part to beat Tony O’Shea @ 11/10

The Canadian former world champ is renowned for his steel-like nerves and is regarded as one of the best match-players in the business, which makes him hard to oppose.

O’Shea’s victory over Adie Lewis could’ve swung either way in truth and he was promptly put in his place by Gary Anderson last time out. It’s difficult to justify the Silverback’s favouritism based on this tournament’s results alone.

It’s sure to be a tight one, but Darth is too cool a customer to let the occasion get to him and expect him to advance to the knock-out stage as a result.

Andy Hamilton to beat Paul Nicholson @ 8/11

After Phil Taylor, the Hammer is probably the most consistent performer in the PDC and, despite already being through to the next round, he won’t be going easy on Nicholson.

If the Asset brings his A-game he can see Hamilton off, but whether he has the temperament is another question entirely. Nicholson will have to be lethal on his doubles or he’ll be going home for certain.

Christian Kist to beat Mark Walsh @ 8/11

A PDC star-in-the-making and reigning Lakeside champion, Kist has cruised into the last-16 after beating Wayne Jones and Raymond van Barneveld; he’s now eyeing a win over Mark Walsh to ensure top-spot in Group H.

Walshy’s hopes remained alive after he sunk Jones last time out but, with nine defeats in his last 11 matches he’s hardly in the form required to beat such a talented prospect playing at the top of his game.

Wes Newton to beat Terry Jenkins @ 8/11

After dominating against this opponent in earlier years, the Bull has struggled for form against Newton of late – expect this trend to continue here.

Their head-to-head records are well matched at 11-10 in the Warrior’s favour, but the Fleetwood-native has won five of the last six meetings, including four on the bounce.

Gary Anderson to beat Adrian Lewis @ 5/6

If it isn’t the World Championship, Lewis just doesn’t care. Now he’s already eliminated from the Grand Slam his level of interest will have dipped even lower; he’ll only be turning up to ensure he gets his tournament fee.

The Flying Scotsman has fond memories of playing Jackpot after beating him to win his first PDC televised tournament – the 2011 Premier League – and can play free from stress here knowing that his progress in this competition is ensured.
