Chelmsford once again star in our monster FA Cup fourfold

The FA Cup second round takes place this weekend and the minnows of the footballing world are dreaming of the lush, green grass of the Old Trafford pitch on a freezing cold January afternoon.

We had the bookies on the ropes in round one when our 71/1 shot came within two Stevenage goals of copping; let’s see if we can make ‘em shed a few tears with this 92/1 juggernaut.

Gillingham to beat Preston @ 3/1

Neither side come into this game in the best of form but the League Two pace setters will be prioritising this game higher than North End and this will give them the edge at Deepdale.

Martin Allen’s men have only won once in their last five outings, but with just the solitary away day defeat to their name in the league, they’ll be confident ahead of this trip.

Preston haven’t won a home league game in five attempts, scoring just twice in that time and the Gills’ big price is well worth a punt.

Sheffield United to beat Port Vale @ 4/6

The Blades are wobbling a bit following their excellent start to League One proceedings. They’ve won just one game in five and lost their 19-match unbeaten run along the way. They remain a reliable outfit, however, and should avoid upset at home to Port Vale.

No side from a lower division has knocked them out of a cup competition without requiring a penalties in the past two seasons and they should not be overlooked at such a good price for this Bramall Lane clash.

Crewe to beat Burton @ 8/11

The Railwaymen are a strong unit at the Alexandra Stadium, winning five of their last six games there. Burton have failed claim the spoils in four of their last five league games on the road, not managing a goal in three of them.

They have also been defeated on each of their three visits this venue, shipping a total of nine goals and mustering just four in response.

Chelmsford to beat Crawley @ 7/1

This is without doubt the biggest long shot of the bet, but what good is an FA Cup accumulator without involving a major upset?
Chelmsford delivered last time we put our faith in them, overcoming the odds to beat Colchester in the Essex derby and they will make the short trip to Crawley in good spirits.

Crawley haven’t won in any of their last five games and scraped past the Metropolitan Police in the previous round. They should still see off the Blue Square Bet South side at the Broadfield Stadium here, but Chelmsford will make a fist of it and, should complacency set in on the hosts’ part, expect them to take advantage.
