Of their main rivals, Sheffield United, who also remain unbeaten yet sit outside the automatic promotion places, are 3/1 favourites to win the division.
They too have made strong additions to their squad, with Dave Kitson and Paul Gallagher acquisitions with Premier League experience in abundance.
Boss Danny Wilson will be desperate to improve on last year’s campaign, where play-off final defeat followed a third-place finish, and the Blades are 6/5 to be promoted.
With their current playing squad, United look as good as anyone to achieve promotion with Tranmere, but some could be put off by the relatively short price attributed to them.
Therefore, punters may opt to invest in the possibility of consecutive promotions for Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon, who have drifted slightly to 5/1 for the title amidst some patchy recent form.
The Robins have made their County Ground home a fortress in recent times though, and after victory last week away to Bury, seem to be back on track for a promotion bid.
