Man Utd feature in best bets for Champions League gameweek two
It’s time to kick-off the second round of group games in the Champions League and we have three bets that we believe could reap some punting rewards.
The pay-out for the treble would equate to 7/1.
Cluj v Man Utd – Both teams to score @ 5/6
Cluj have found the target in six of their eight career Champions League home games and have triumphed in both qualifiers on their own patch this season, beating Slovan Liberac and Basel.
They are likely to try and play on the counter attack against the Red Devils and Tottenham showed in the latest round of Premier League fixtures that the United defence is vulnerable against some pace on the break.
Throw in that Sir Alex Ferguson may go with an attacking line-up including the likes of Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa and there will be space for Cluj to exploit.
The fact that Man Utd have left Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs off their plane to Romania also may leave them more open in midfield.
Spartak Moscow (-1) to beat Celtic @ 6/4
Celtic failed to register a single shot on target in their opening Champions League group game at home to Benfica and this does not inspire much confidence towards their chances in Russia.
Russia is not the easiest place to go for any club in the Champions League, as Barcelona have previously uncovered against Rubin Kazan and Real Madrid found when drawing at CSKA Moscow.
Scoring twice at the Nou Camp suggests that Spartak have no attacking issues and they look good to win by at least two against Celtic.
Valencia to beat Lille @ 4/7
Not the most attractive of prices, but Lille look to be in freefall and a shadow of the side that won the French title in 2011.
Eden Hazard, Gervinho and Moussa Sow were the attacking foundations of this team and this is the first season that none of the trio are on the books. They look light on creativity.
This is enhanced by Saloman Kalou being injured and captain Rio Mavuba also being unavailable.
Valencia are unbeaten at home in La Liga this season and should beat a Lille side at home that were beaten on their own patch by BATE in their opening Champions League game of the campaign.
