Man City v Dortmund: Two attacking teams to churn out goals

| 03.10.2012

Man City’s return to winning ways at Fulham last time out should see their spirits high ahead of this clash with German powerhouses Dortmund.

City are 4/5 to record their second win on the spin; a very reasonable price given the imperious home form that has become synonymous with Roberto Mancini’s reign and the inexperience of the Bundesliga champions’ squad at continental level.

They currently sit seven points back from Bayern Munich in their bid to make it hat-trick of German titles after a recent blip which saw them ship six goals in two games though, alike City, they restored order in their previous game by thumping Borussia Monchengladbach 5-0.

Dortmund’s disastrous Champions League campaign last season, which saw them pick up just one win in a group that can be fairly described as average, should see them better prepared to tackle Europe’s big guns this time around and they picked up maximum points in their opening game with Ajax.

However, they will also be looking to shake a poor record in England since the turn of the century, where they have lost three from three, scoring just one goal.

Their last win at the home of a Premier League side came in Manchester way back in 1997. They beat Man United 1-0 that day on their way to winning the competition and Ladbrokes have them priced at a massive 12/1 to repeat the scoreline here.

Dortmund’s 10 goals scored in three games means they have the ability to cause a vulnerable City backline problems in the final third, whereas the hosts bagging a goal at home can never be ruled out. This makes the 8/13 on the table for both teams to find the net in this one a steady bet, as is the 4/6 for either keeper to be beaten more than 2.5 times.
