Sunderland v Liverpool: Suarez to find his shooting boots

Published:

It has been an emotional week for Liverpool supporters and Luis Suarez can ensure that it ends with three points away at Sunderland.

A positive outcome has finally materialised from the tragic occurrences of Hillsborough and the team will almost certainly be up for their trip to the Stadium of Light more so than ever.

Liverpool are 5/4 to beat Sunderland and hand Brendan Rodgers his first Premier League victory since taking charge in the summer.

Suarez has been particularly wasteful so far this season, missing close to a dozen decent chances on the opening day against West Brom.

The fact that he is getting into scoring positions must be considered a positive and he has scored in two of his last three appearances against the Black Cats.

All things considered, 6/4 looks an amazing price that Suarez finds the net at any time in the 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, it is 5/1 that the Uruguayan opens the scoring and 33/1 that he helps himself to a hat-trick.

Although they do not get beaten that often, Martin O’Neill’s men are on a winless Premier League run of ten games.

This bodes well for a Liverpool win, alongside the fact that Sunderland have failed to find the target in four of their last six home matches with the Reds.

Sunderland’s odds are 11/5 to beat Liverpool and the news that Adam Johnson appears to have recovered from the thigh injury that caused his withdrawal from the England squad for their World Cup qualifiers is a positive one.

Danny Rose is also on course to make his debut after signing on loan from Tottenham.

Sunderland have drawn both of their Premier League outings so far his season and it is 9/4 that they complete the hat-trick by claiming a point off Liverpool.
