Strong Suit can provide backdrop to the St Leger

Published:

The St Leger is not the only interesting race on the final day of the Doncaster meeting, with Strong Suit another big name taking to the course, alongside exciting two-year-old Dundonnell.

14:25 Doncaster – Toronado @ 7/4

The field is down to five after the withdrawal of the unbeaten Unsinkable and Dundonnell is the one to beat after a Group Three victory at York last time.

However, there seems to be plenty more to come from Toronado, from the Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes combination, who is yet to be beaten in two starts.

He quickened well off a slow pace last time and appears a group horse in the making.

15:00 Doncaster – Kaldoun Kingdom @ 14/1

With five-year-old’s winning the last five renewals of the Ladbrokes Portland Handicap and a high draw favoured, these two statistics do not bode well for the favoured Rex Imperator.

Doc Hay is the one that fits both these trends and although arguably better over 5f, he does have some form over 6f which suggests he does stay the trip.

However, preference is for Kaldoun Kingdom, given that all of his victories seem to arrive at this time of the year, he is a course and distance winner and he has a good draw.

16:15 Doncaster – Strong Suit @ 9/4

Strong Suit returns to arguably his preferred trip here of 7f and should be a class above his rivals in the Park Stakes if producing close to his best.

He was not disgraced in the Haydock Sprint Cup over an inadequate 6f last time and should easily reverse form with Lethal Force from earlier in the season, when the rival was given too much of a lead up front.

Foxtrot Romeo looks the one to consider at each-way prices as not only does he still look unexposed, but he will be receiving his three-year-old weight allowance.
