Reading v Newcastle: Toon a major value bet at the prices

Published:

Newcastle are by no means guaranteed to win at Reading, but 11/8 looks a massive price that they claim a first away victory of the campaign.

Given that Liverpool are 5/6 to win at Norwich, there is certainly the argument that Newcastle deserve to be a similar price, if not the same.

Liverpool and Newcastle look to be on a similar Premier League level at present in the chase group directly behind the top four, with the Toon in the better form.

Meanwhile, Norwich have an experience edge in the top flight from last season, which arguably makes a visit to Carrow Road tougher than the Madejski.

Papiss Cisse’s Capital One Cup goal at Old Trafford will be a big boost to his confidence and this represents a decent chance to break his Premier League barren streak.

Cisse is 11/2 to strike first against Reading and it has been a rarity in recent times that he has been a bigger price in this market than strike partner Demba Ba.

Both of Newcastle’s triumphs thus far this season have come via a single goal and it is 10/3 that this is their margin of victory against Reading.

Reading have not been as bad so far as their results suggest and it should not be too much longer before they collect a first win of the campaign.

It is 19/10 that Reading beat Newcastle, while the draw that could be enough to get them off the bottom of the table is priced at 23/10.

Newcastle have conceded twice in both of their away games so far and punters fancying a Reading success may want to attempt to boost their profits by backing a 2-1 victory at 10/1.
