Rayo Vallecano v Real Madrid & Deportivo La Coruna v Sevilla

Published:

Real Madrid go into this less-publicised local derby with Rayo Vallecano 11 points behind Barcelona and defeat could see them slip out of the title race after just five games.

Jose Mourinho’s men looked much more like their old selves when they twice came from behind to beat Man City in their last outing and are 2/7 favourites to implement that form in La Liga, where they have only won once in four games.

Vallecano have not managed to prevent Real taking maximum points off them in a game since 2000, though you have to go back to 1995 for the last time they beat their city rivals.

Unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite to open the scoring here after netting four in two games with Rayo last term. He’s 9/4 to do so again here.

Rayo, however, have yet to concede a goal at home this season and might fancy their chances of keeping the score down. It’s 13/8 for there to be under 2.5 goals in this one and, with the score in last season’s game falling under this mark, the hosts have shown they have what it takes to frustrate Real.

Sevilla are also in La Liga action tonight as they travel to Deportivo aiming to keep their unbeaten start intact.

Los Rojiblancos are 6/4 favourites in what Ladbrokes are expecting to be a close game at the Riazor. Deportivo are priced up at 7/4 to win the game and, akin to Sevilla, are yet to taste defeat this term after drawing their last three.

The last three meetings between these two have also all ended in stalemate, with Alvaro Negredo netting a brace to salvage a 3-3 draw in their last showdown. The Spanish international has picked up as many goals in four games this term and is priced up at 5/1 to open the scoring in this one.

Given these sides’ tendency to tie games, the draw at 23/10 looks a good prospect, whereas the 17/20 for the total goals scored to be even is also worth getting involved with.
