Leyton Orient v Brentford: Rare home game for the O’s

Published:

Leyton Orient chalked up a shock win at home-specialists Swindon to get off the mark this season and their record against Brentford will give them confidence of making it two in two.

It’s 2/1 for the Orient to take all three points at the Matchroom Stadium, as they have done in each of the last three in which they’ve entertained Brentford.

Their poor start to the season can be attributed to the fact that they’ve played all bar one of their games to date away from home. They’ll be eager for 90 minutes in front of their own fans and history suggests home advantage will make the difference here.

However, they do have a goalscoring issue to address. Lee Cook’s solitary strike that sunk Swindon was their only league goal in open play so far. The tricky wide man is priced at 10/1 to break the deadlock here but, with only three strikes to his name in the previous five seasons, it seems unlikely he’ll do it again.

Perhaps a better first goalscorer bet would be Bees’ striker Clayton Donaldson. He’s priced up at 5/1 favourite to add to his impressive tally of four goals in five league games having netted a stoppage time equaliser to rescue a point for his side in their last away day.

This goal ensured that Brentford remained undefeated on the road this season, yet they are still to win in those two games and their 11/8 favouritism is one worth overlooking.

As well as losing to the O’s last season, Brentford also went down at Charlton which stretched their dreadful run in London derby league fixtures to two wins in 10, seven of which were losses.
