Ladbrokes best price on Dawn Approach for next 2000 Guineas

Published:

Dawn Approach has undoubtedly looked the superstar two-year-old of this Flat season and he looks a worthy favourite at present for next year’s 2000 Guineas.

Ladbrokes are offering the top price of 8/1 on a Dawn Approach success at Newmarket and his latest victory in the National Stakes must enhance his chances of victory in the first Classic of 2013.

The National Stakes at the Curragh has proved a fine breeding ground for future superstars in the past 20 years, with Sinndar, George Washington and New Approach among its roll of honour winners.

Dawn Approach, the son of 2008 Epsom Derby winner New Approach, is now unbeaten in five career starts after his triumph in the 7f contest, which was achieved with complete authority.

The only obvious issue for the horse is how well he will take to his new stables when moving from his current home with Jim Bolger to that of Godolphin.

Dawn Approach ran in Godolphin’s colours for the first time at the Curragh, but for the moment he is still trained by Bolger.

This will change in the future, most probably over the winter, and Godolphin have not trained a winner of the 2000 Guineas since Island Sands back in 1999.

Behind Dawn Approach in the 2013 2000 Guineas betting is Richard Hannon’s Toronado, who extended his own 100 per cent record to three races on St Leger day at Doncaster.

Toronado’s Group Two victory has seen him cut to 16/1, with Ladbrokes again providing the best price, but with the Racing Post Trophy on the agenda, punters may be best to wait.

There is the belief that Toronado may be better over the Derby distance of 1m4f next season, rather than the 1m of the 2000 Guineas and the Racing Post Trophy should give clearer insight into this.
