Cheltenham v Morecambe: Visitors glad to be off home turf

Published:

Morecambe’s home form has been diabolical this season so they will be glad of a trip to Whaddon Road.

The Shrimps are a long shot for the win at 11/4, despite their steady away form and decent record against Cheltenham.

Jim Bentley’s men have picked up four wins on the road in all competitions to date, suffering defeat just twice. These were excusable losses too; one was to Premier League opposition in Sunderland, the other to a Bradford side who have conquered all at Valley Parade.

They have lost just one from six league fixtures against the Robins and took six points from them last term.

Midfielder Kevin Ellison flourished in these clashes, weighing-in with three of the five goals his side scored across the two meetings.

He’s helped himself to a quarter of the 12 his struggling side have registered and can be backed at 9/1 to break the deadlock in this game.

Morecambe stand every chance of winning at Cheltenham, who have failed to get the job done in four of their last five outings, a run which includes two defeats on their own patch.

Their pair of league wins this season have both been handsome 3-0 efforts and the same outcome here can be backed at a massive 16/1. Cheltenham have been on the wrong end of this scoreline at home once already this term and have conceded three in both of their defeats at Whaddon Road.

It would seem, then, that the Shrimps will need to keep their hosts at bay if they’re going to get the win they crave. This eventuality can be backed at 10/3 and, if you’re in favour of the away win in this one, it’s a safer alternative to the correct score offering.
