Blackpool v Huddersfield: Hosts’ to be too strong at Bloomfield

Published:

Brighton knocked Blackpool off the Championship summit after their win at Millwall; Ian Holloway’s side must beat Huddersfield to reclaim it.

Huddersfield are a big price here at 7/2 and their good recent form means there could be value to be had in it.
With only one league loss – an injury-time goal away at Cardiff – to their name this term, the Terriers are currently enjoying a vein a form that’s brought them three wins in four.

Simon Grayson’s men have shown no ill effects since their selling of Jordan Rhodes to Blackburn either. They’ve netted six goals in the three games played without him, with midfielder Adam Clayton netting twice in that time.

He’s 14/1 to continue his good form and open the scoring at Bloomfield Road, whereas on-loan striker James Vaughan is 7/1 to add to add to his solitary goal in Huddersfield colours.

The visitors’ inflated price is in no small part down to Blackpool’s strength in front of their own fans this term.

Odds-on at 8/11, the Tangerines have won all three of their home games in the Championship, scoring an incredible 12 whilst conceding just two.

With six goals in six, there’s no question Tom Ince has been the top player in the Championship to date, thriving under the stewardship of Holloway.

Understandably, he’s favourite to break the deadlock at 9/2 and as short as 6/5 to score at any point in the game.

The past four meetings between these two have all gone the way of the hosts, three of which have been won to nil, while a 1-0 scoreline has been repeated twice.

It’s priced up at 13/2 to occur for the third time in five matches, whereas a Blackpool win to nil is tempting at 5/2.
