Rooney move touted as Man United dominate deadline day markets

Manchester United have been prominent in this summer’s transfer market, most notably adding Robin Van Persie to their ranks in a £24million deal recently.

But it is departures from Old Trafford that could soon dominate the headlines, with Wayne Rooney a 9/4 shot to leave the Red Devils by Saturday.

Rooney was surprisingly left out of the starting lineup as United met Fulham on Saturday, in the aftermath of a disappointing performance from the forward against Everton earlier that week.

His replacement Van Persie subsequently went on to score, and rumours have circulated since that Sir Alex Ferguson may be ready to oversee the sale of the England star.

It is thought the 26-year-old would command a fee of around £50million, and with few clubs able to afford that, Rooney remains favoured to stay at Old Trafford at 1/3.

However, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain have previously shown interest in Rooney, and could test United’s resolve with a bid before this weekend.

Elsewhere, the potential exits of Anderson and Nani have been mooted, with Tottenham believed to have expressed a serious interest in the pair.

It is 4/11 that Portuguese winger Nani remains in Manchester, whilst Brazilian midfielder Anderson is 1/3 to stay at Old Trafford beyond September 1st.

Nani is 2/1 to end his five-year stint with United meanwhile, with his team-mate Anderson 11/5 to leave the club at which his first-team opportunities have become limited.

United are not the only club set to come under scrutiny as the transfer deadline approaches though, with the futures of an abundance of other players yet to be decided.

Clint Dempsey is one of those, with the long-term Liverpool target 4/6 to remain at Craven Cottage, but a tempting 11/10 to leave Martin Jol behind by Saturday.

As Dempsey has reportedly refused to play for Fulham in the hope of forcing through a move, he seems primed to exit the club before the September 1 deadline.

Moussa Dembele could follow him too at 5/4, after a terrific start to the season in which he has further impressed the likes of Tottenham.

He is 4/7 to stay with the Cottagers, though much could depend on the potential outgoings at White Hart Lane in the near future, as Spurs appear most serious potential suitors.

Therefore, should the 11/10 about Michael Dawson exiting Spurs come to fruition, Dembele may be worth backing to leave Fulham too.
