Ortensia to finally showcase talents in the UK at Goodwood

Black Caviar arrived as the big name from Australia earlier this season and the time has come for Ortensia to slightly step out of the wondermare’s shadow to achieve a first UK victory in the Gordon’s King George Stakes.

14:00 Goodwood – Dandino @ 7/1

Dandino has been below par for much of the year, but he seems to like Goodwood, as on his two starts at the course, he has only lost by a head on each occasion.

The soft ground can be blamed for his Newmarket disappointment last time out and the jockey booking of Johnny Murtagh for the first time here is another boost with the firmer surface.

Gatewood has won three handicaps this season and deservedly moves up to Group company, whether he is good enough to do this remains to be seen.

Dubai Prince is another danger, but he has so far been at his best over 1m1f, so this rise of 3f is slightly unchartered territory.

14:35 Goodwood – Coupe De Ville @ 14/1

Gregorian must be given a big chance given that he has placed form in Group One contests on his last two starts, while Stipulate and Tales Of Grimm are others with solid claims.

However, Coupe De Ville looks the better option at the prices, given his form this year.

He was within four lengths of Camelot in the Derby and was only just behind Thistle Bird last time, who has since won impressively at Ascot.

15:10 Goodwood – Captain Bertie @ 10/1

The two best assets for the Betfred Mile are seemingly a low draw and a front-running style and both of these bring Captain Bertie into the reckoning.

Meanwhile, all of the last ten winners have come from the top five in the Goodwood betting.

Albaqaa is another that seems to fit all of these key elements, but it is a slight worry that he is yet to finish better than fifth this season.

15:45 Goodwood – Ortensia @ 6/1

Ortensia has slightly disappointed on her two UK starts to date, but the faster ground at Goodwood can finally show her in her true light.

This slight drop in class to Group Two company should also help, while jockey William Buick gained a bit of an understanding with the horse when they joined forces on heavy ground last time out.

For each-way punters Humidor looks overpriced given that he has won two of his three career starts at Goodwood and has the jockey booking of Richard Hughes.
