McDowell fans to profit as top six paid at PGA Championship

Ladbrokes paid the top six places each-way at the Open Championship last month and they will be offering the same for the upcoming PGA Championship.

Even more of a benefit from a punter’s perspective is that the top-six offer will be available until the end of the first round.

Graeme McDowell rewarded each-way punters at the Open Championship and could be one of the best placed to do so again at Kiawah Island.

In fact, McDowell has finished in the top five at each of the last two majors and was also in contention at the Masters when finishing 12th.

McDowell is 40/1 to win the PGA Championship and punters would still get 10/1 each-way as Ladbrokes are paying a quarter of the odds for places.

The fact that the Ocean Course has a links feel to it should also suit McDowell over the majority of other players, while he sits prominently in fourth in the PGA Tour statistics in terms of hitting fairways off the tee, which is always a useful attribute.

Adam Scott is another to have been a constant challenger in the majors this season without ever getting across the finish line.

His failure to see out the Open Championship will put additional pressure on his shoulders and test his resolve, but could be worth each-way consideration at 25/1.

The third alternative to finish in the top six is Louis Oosthuizen, who already knows what it takes to win a major when a comprehensive victor at the Open Championship in 2010.

Meanwhile, he was second at the Masters earlier this year and arrives in South Carolina in strong form after finishing fourth in his final preparation event at the Bridgestone Invitational on the PGA Tour.

Oosthuizen’s steady game has little in the way of chinks and he is 33/1 to win the PGA Championship.
