Lost In The Moment a good price for Goodwood Cup glory
Published:Ascot Gold Cup winner Colour Vision is the biggest name on the card on day three of Glorious Goodwood, but with four televised races in total, there is plenty of action for punters to get their teeth into.
14:15 Goodwood – Grandeur @ 11/1
Although this is a big ask off top weight and the inconvenience of a wide draw, Grandeur has the class to triumph now stepping back out of Group company.
He is a former course and distance winner and will appreciate the firmer surface.
At the lower end of the weights, Hallings Comet is unexposed, while Blue Surf is another that could run into the places.
14:45 Goodwood – Ahern @ 7/4
This looks a straight shootout between the two horses from Qatar Racing, with slight preference for Ahern over Cay Verde.
Ahern has run two positive races in defeat of late and can gain a deserved win back on faster ground.
Cay Verde finished just behind Ahern at Royal Ascot when sent off favourite and so is clearly talented, but whether he sees out this rise to 6f is a mystery.
15:15 Goodwood – Lost In The Moment @ 9/1
Godolphin are bidding to win this for the third time in four years and Colour Vision arrives on the back of a triumph in the Ascot Gold Cup.
But he needed every yard of the 2m4f and so this contest over 2m may prove on the sharp side, while his chances are also negatively impacted by a 4lb penalty.
Lost In The Moment has performed solidly on both of his previous attempts at the distance, when second in this race last year after experiencing troubles in running and when placed in the Melbourne Gold Cup.
He may prove the one to beat, while Simenon is of interest now stepped up to Group class, although his price seems on the short side.
15:45 – Jehannedarc @ 16/1
Estimate was highly impressive at Royal Ascot and will be tough to beat, especially because she receives weight for being a three-year-old.
However, there are no guarantees that the Queen’s horse will be as effective over a longer trip.
Each-way punters could do worse than side with Jehannedarc, who is a daughter of Montjeu and appeals given that she has been sent over from France by Alain De Royer-Dupre.
