Ladbrokes best price on three Team GB Olympic rowing golds

Published:

Team GB’s wait for a first Olympic gold medal is expected to end on the Eton Dorney Lake and Ladbrokes are offering best prices on three individual disciplines within the men’s rowing ranks.

The best chance of a Team GB rowing gold appears to be in the women’s double scull, where Katharine Grainger and Anna Watkins are 1/7 to take gold.

The pair are already world champions, unbeaten in 21 races and have broken the Olympic record in the early rounds in London.

Meanwhile, there are two other rowing events where Team GB are odds-on for gold.

Heather Stanning and Helen Glover are another pair to have broken an Olympic record and are 2/5 to triumph in the final of the women’s pair, with 8/11 the price on Team GB winning the men’s four.

However, the best prices from Ladbrokes relate to the men’s eight, the men’s single scull and men’s pair.

Germany are heavy favourites to win the men’s eight, but 5/1 could prove a decent price on Team GB after they defeated defending Olympic champions Canada to win the repechage to reach the final.

Alan Campbell is 14/1 to win the men’s single scull, with the main competition coming from New Zealand’s Mahe Drysdale.

The final top price comes in the men’s pair, where George Nash and William Satch are 16/1 to take gold.

The duo qualified for the semi finals of the event with victory in their heat, but beating the New Zealand pairing may be an ask too much.

It is 1/16 that New Zealand win the men’s pair and they were over eight seconds faster than any other team in the heats, showing their dominance in the event.
