Graham the 100/1 dark horse to be top Premier League scorer

Danny Graham may be 100/1 to be top Premier League goalscorer, but Michael Laudrup’s attacking philosophy can give punters a run for their money.

Despite all of their possession under Brendan Rodgers in the last campaign, Swansea still lacked some creativity in the final third, with only five clubs scoring less than their tally of 44.

Laudrup has shown already in pre-season since replacing Rodgers that he has his own approach and the early signs suggest that there will be more goals at both ends.

Graham has looked particularly devastating in attack, with goals in each of his last three friendlies, with his latest involvement being two goals against Stuttgart to follow a hat-trick against Blackpool.

The arrival of Michu from Rayo Vallecano already looks a shrewd piece of business as his ability to link play from a more advanced midfield position is a new asset to Swansea.

Gylfi Sigurdsson played the role last year, but his game was more about goals and late surges into the box, rather than laying on chances for others.

Michu seems more of a string puller and although this will heap the pressure on Graham to be an even greater source of goals than his total of 12 in the Premier League last season, the early signs are that he is up to the task.

Laudrup is especially pleased with the understanding the pair are already developing and said: “I thought Michu and Danny are already connecting well and if Danny can stay fit then I think he can score 15 to 20 goals in the Premier League next season.”

However, much may also depend on whether Manchester City are serious in their pursuit of Swans winger Scott Sinclair, who is another vital cog in their attacking armoury.
