Doncaster and Notts County among tempting League One picks
As the second round of League One fixtures lies in prospect, we have made four choices we believe can bring home returns at more than 15/1.
We side with home outfits for each of our selections, with recently-relegated Doncaster kicking us off at a tempting 4/5 when welcoming Bury.
Dean Saunders’ men were impressive in chalking up a 3-0 victory away to Walsall on Saturday, whilst the travelling Shakers could only muster a point at home to Brentford.
A more attacking approach paid dividends for Rovers at the weekend, and Saunders will hope the likes of David Cotterill can follow up his sensational debut strike.
Notts County are our next selection when meeting Hartlepool meanwhile, fresh from snapping an unbeaten run in excess of 20 games.
County triumphed away to Crewe at the weekend to break the aforementioned streak, and look great value at 4/5 back on their own patch in midweek.
Hartlepool’s last two visits to Meadow Lane has seen them succumb to 3-0 defeats, and Keith Curle’s men could record another emphatic success this time.
Swindon come next at 1/1, as last season’s League Two champions compete at the County Ground as a League One outfit for the first time under Paolo Di Canio.
The Robins welcome a Crawley side who victored 3-0 over the weekend, but one who were bested by the same scoreline in either meeting of these sides last term.
Di Canio’s men also lost only once on their own patch last season, and can kick-start their campaign with a midweek victory here.
Another side with a highly impressive home record last term meanwhile was Shrewsbury, and they round off our accumulator at 8/5 to beat Preston.
Indeed, the Shrews failed to taste defeat on home soil for the entirety of the last campaign, and their 18 wins at New Meadow in that time bodes well too.
Visitors Preston won just six times on their travels last season in contrast, and having scored only 54 times in that period, North End may struggle to trouble the hosts.
