Bolton v Nottingham Forest: Testing home tie for Trotters

Published:

Bolton, favourites to claim the Championship title this season, are comfortable 1/1 favourites to overcome Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

The Trotters have experienced a mixed start to Championship life so far, following up a 2-0 defeat away to Burnley with success via the same scoreline at home to Derby.

Their visitors are unbeaten meanwhile, having bested Bristol City at home last weekend, before claiming an impressive point away to Huddersfield on Tuesday night.

Forest, under the new stewardship of Sean O’Driscoll, are 23/10 to play out consecutive stalemates on the road, and 11/4 odds to take all three points from the Reebok Stadium.

There is little previous form to study in terms of encounters between these two sides, as the teams have not met since back in 2001.

Home side Bolton were 1-0 victors in that League Cup fixture though, and punters can have 11/2 about a repeat of that scoreline here.

The last time the sides met in league competition meanwhile, Bolton succeeded 2-0, and it is 15/2 they do so again, for the second consecutive home game, in this match.

Although this season is in its infancy, it should be noted that both outfit have taken until the second half of their games to fully get going so far.

Each of the sides’ two strikes apiece have come after the break, and so backing the draw at half-time in this match seems sensible.

It is 7/2 that the sides are level at half-time with Bolton going on to win, whilst 4/1 is the price attributed to a draw at both half-time and full-time.

For those punters foreseeing Forest breaking down the home side, the Tricky Trees are a big 15/2 to win a match that is all square after 45 minutes.

Of Bolton’s goalscoring hopes, three are afforded 5/1 favouritism in the form of Benik Afobe, Kevin Davies and David N’Gog.

However, with only Davies likely to start, he could prove the best option after his midweek opener against Derby.

Simon Cox will be hoping to pick up where he left off at Huddersfield meanwhile, and Forest’s Irish international striker appeals at 7/1 to break the deadlock again on Friday.
