Team GB v UAE: Pearce’s side searching for a much-needed win

Published:

Team GB square-up to minnows the UAE at Wembley this weekend and are 2/5 to secure a win that could prove vital going into a tricky final group game against Uruguay.

The Arabs – who are 7/1 to cause an upset – put in an impressive display in their first match against Luis Suarez’s men and led until a comeback from the South Americans saw them run out 2-1 victors.

A draw would heap a lot of pressure on the home side going into the last game but the vistors ability will no doubt cause problems for the Brit’s mismatched back four and punting on the contest ending all-square at 7/2 should attract a few pessimistic British residents.

Stuart Pearce’s charges put in something of an abject performance in their opener against Senegal and the former Manchester City boss will be looking for a drastic improvement from his men.

Just one area they will need to improve upon is in front of goal, having netted just once in their three games together.

Craig Bellamy looked the biggest threat at Old Trafford and it was he who broke the deadlock with a well taken goal and the Welshman is 9/2 to do the same here.

The UAE danger man is undoubtedly 29-year-old Ismail Matar who has hit an impressive 27 goals in his 89 caps and he is 10/1 to be first on the score sheet under the Wembley arch.

GB should dominate the game with the quality at their disposal and the best value seems to be getting behind the home nation to be leading at half-time and going on to be the victor come the final whistle at 4/5.
