Team GB captain Ryan Giggs fancied to have a golden Olympics

Published:

Team GB captain Ryan Giggs has won every domestic honour going – and now he’s fancied to add to his haul on the Olympic stage.

Giggs is just 8/1 to lead his team to Olympic glory and is 33/1 to score the winning goal in the final.

However, Team GB are still well behind favourites Brazil (7/4) and Spain (11/5) in the betting and – as unpatriotic as it may be – you may better off backing Giggs to have more disappointment on the international stage.

Giggs is 11/10 to score no goals in the Olympics and, with a less than prolific goalscoring record for both club and country that may be a bet well worth consideration.

He scored just 12 times in 64 games for Wales and hit only four goals in 33 matches for United last season.

With Team GB only guaranteed to play three games in the Olympics, putting some cash on Giggs failing to score looks an extremely tempting punt.

However, if you can see him striking, then he is 11/8 to score once and 9/2 to find the net on two occasions.

For a longer-odds punt, you can even back him at 12/1 to recreate his famous celebration after scoring against Arsenal in United’s 1999 FA Cup semi final win by twirling his shirt around his head when he scores.
