Man City trio Aguero, Balotelli and Tevez all risky Golden Boot bets

Published:

Manchester City have arguably the most formidable front line in the Premier League – but there are still some good prices to be had on any of their big three strikers winning the Golden Boot this season.

Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli all showed at various stages last season how ruthless they can be in front of goal.

Aguero (7/1) finished the season as the third highest scorer in the Premier League with 23 goals – seven behind winner Robin van Persie.

Balotelli (12/1) had one of the best goals-per-minute ratios in the whole of the division and ended the year with 13 goals in 23 Premier League matches.

Meanwhile, Tevez (16/1) may have missed most of the season after his tantrum in Munich, but he still showed his undeniable quality on his return, bagging a hat-trick against Norwich.

The previous season he finished as joint top goalscorer with former teammate Dimitar Berbatov, having found the net 20 times.

However, the main problem with backing any of these players in the top scorer market, is deciding which one will get the most opportunities to get the ball in the net.

City boss Roberto Mancini has shown plenty of times that he’s not scared of rotating his front line and there is a good chance that none of the three will be an automatic starter.

It’s Aguero who looks the most likely to be the first choice frontman though, with Tevez likely to be deployed in the big games where his industry will be needed as much his goals, while Balotelli will probably be used to bully the weaker teams.

With that in mind, it looks like a straight choice between Balotelli and Aguero for your Manchester City golden boot bet – and it remains hard to look beyond Aguero, who started last season with a brace against Swansea and ended it with the league-winning goal against QPR.
