Man City may sell three strikers this summer as Milan make their move

It will come as no surprise that Manchester City are willing to do business for Roque Santa Cruz and Emmanuel Adebayor this summer, but there is a growing possibility that Edin Dzeko will join them in moving on from the Etihad Stadium.

Unsurprisingly, it is wage issues that are threatening the departures of Santa Cruz and Adebayor, with interested parties struggling to match the sums the players are making at Manchester City.

Real Betis and Tottenham respectively are keen to take the strikers that enjoyed successful loan stints last season on a permanent basis, but may only be able to afford half of their salaries.

However, agreements are expected to be reached with the duo not featuring in the plans of Roberto Mancini for the new season.

There are also reports that Mancini will allow Dzeko to depart as he found starting opportunities tough to come by last season.

Things are only expected to get worse for Dzeko, with Sergio Aguero seemingly happy at the club, Carlos Tevez wanting to stay, Mario Balotelli starring at Euro 2012 and last year’s Premier League top scorer Robin Van Persie looking likely to arrive from Arsenal.

It is AC Milan that are prepared to offer Dzeko an escape route and despite being fairly hard up at present, they could potentially manage to meet Manchester City’s £20m asking price in instalments over a few seasons.

Alternatively in true Milan fashion, they may try to function a loan deal initially with the first option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.

The good news for City is that AC Milan are unlikely to be the only club interested if it is confirmed that Dzeko is allowed to leave.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are among the other clubs previously linked with the Bosnian, alongside Italian champions Juventus especially if they fail in their own attempts to lure Van Persie to Italy.
