Worthadd and Norse Blues can also triumph on Oaks day

Published:

The Oaks may be the biggest race at Epsom today, but there are four other races for TV viewers and some decent prizes to be won.

13:40 Epsom – Barefoot Lady @ 4/1

Lay Time has the highest rating of the contenders, but this looks a tough race to win on a seasonal reappearance.

Barefoot Lady should have no such fitness issues with two runs already this season and may profit from attempting to steal first run on the field, given that her stamina stays beyond today’s trip to 1m2f.

14:15 Epsom – Resurge @ 6/1

Gatewood has obvious claims given that he is still open to plenty of improvement having only had four career runs.

Although he won well at York last month, whether he is up to defying a 5lb rise in the weights remains to be seen, while Epsom is far more demanding a track.

Resurge won this same race 12 months ago so will have no such issues, while he also running off a 2lb lower mark.

14:50 Epsom – Worthadd @ 1/1

Discounting his racecourse debut, Worthadd has only ever been beaten in Group One company and given his winning record in Group Two outings, he should have little trouble dealing with this Group Three company.

His only ever run in England was when a narrow loser to Canford Cliffs in last year’s Lockinge and now in the hands of Sir Mark Prescott, he can continue his development.

15:25 Epsom – Norse Blues @ 10/1

Norse Blues has shown an ability to handle Epsom with a victory on Oaks day last year and can come on for finishing a close-up fifth on his latest start at Newmarket when taking too long to pick up.

A few of today’s rivals finished ahead of him that day, including favourite Boogie Shoes, who took second but is worse off at the weights this time.

Axiom is another to consider at 25/1 as he is well weighted with the use of a 7lb claimer, especially if reproducing his better form of 2010.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
