Wimbledon Accumulator: Kvitova to make light work of opener

Published:

Petra Kvitova gets her Wimbledon title defence underway on day two at SW19 and she is picked to win in straight sets to lead our 19/1 accumulator.

We have picked six results from the women’s first round matches on the second day, with Kvitova facing Akgul Amanmuradova.

Despite Kvitova having doubts over her own form after a surprise defeat in the opening round of the Aegon International at Eastbourne to Ekaterina Makarova, her game should be too strong for the world number 96 Uzbek.

She should not need to take too many risks to secure victory and the match should be perfect for her to work on her serve, which has been slightly misfiring of late.

Kateryna Bondarenko defeated beaten French Open finalist Sara Errani in a grass-court tournament in Holland recently and made it to the third round at Wimbledon last year.

She opens up against 41-year-old Kimiko Date Krumm, who also arrives with a leg injury that forced her retirement in Nottingham earlier this month.

Vera Dushevina has not made the second round of a tournament since early in the clay-court season and this wait for a tournament win is expected to continue against Aleksandra Wozniak.

Wozniak also triumphed in the only previous meeting between the pair, dropping just one game on the grass of Eastbourne in 2009.

Elsewhere, Alize Cornet has lost in the first round of Wimbledon for the past four years and can come unstuck again against Nina Bratchikova, while Anabel Medina Garrigues can repeat her success over Simona Halep from Holland earlier this month.

The final prediction is Olga Govortsova to beat Annika Beck.
