Poland v Czech Republic: Record of hosts to see Poland win
Published:Poland have a phenomenal home record against the Czech Republic when considering their most recent meetings and is it 5/4 that they collect another victory to seal their spot in the knockout rounds of Euro 2012.
The meeting in Wroclaw is certainly winner takes all, as whichever team triumphs is guaranteed to advance beyond the groups.
It is certain that if there is a loser, they will be eliminated from the tournament, while a draw will not be enough for Poland.
Luckily for the Poles, they have won their last six home games with the Czechs, both in their current guise and in that formerly as Czechoslovakia.
Meanwhile, all of the five meetings since the divide between Poland and the Czech Republic have ended in home successes.
Poland have drawn their first two Group A encounters and it is 9/4 that they complete the clean sweep by taking another point off the Czech Republic.
The Czech’s are 11/5 to triumph, which would not only send the co-hosts out early, but also give them an outside chance of progressing as group winners.
With both teams theoretically needing to win, it would be easy to predict a high-scoring meeting as attack takes higher priority than defence.
But no team scored fewer goals in qualifying for Euro 2012 than the Czech Republic, while six of Poland’s last seven games have seen no more than two goals scored, with the one exception being a victory over minnows Andorra.
It is 8/11 that under 2.5 goals are scored, while 13/2 also appeals that Poland can claim a 1-0 victory.
Poland captain Jakub Blaszczykowski netted the equaliser in Poland’s draw with Russia and grabbed what proved to be the winner on the last occasion that they beat the Czechs.
He is 9/1 to score first.
