With Tiger Woods in form and favourite, Dustin Johnson taking the recent St Jude Classic title and Rickie Fowler showing signs of being ready to win a first major, 8/11 could represent big value that any of the home golfers wins the US Open.

In fact, ten of the top 15 names in the US Open odds are American and it is a player towards the foot of this particular list that it may prove especially wise to pay attention to.

Jim Furyk is 33/1 to win the US Open with Ladbrokes offering the top price and he knows what is required to win the major after his success in 2003.
