French Open: Nadal set for victory over Djokovic
Published:It’s not often that World No.1 Novak Djokovic heads into a match as the 3/1 outsider – but then it’s not often that he has to face Rafael Nadal on clay.
The Spaniard is the undisputed king of the clay and already has an incredible six French Open titles to his name.
He has not lost in the French Open since a fourth round exit at the hands of Robin Söderling back in 2009 – his only defeat to date at Roland Garros.
Nadal – who turned 26-years-old earlier this month – is unsurprisingly the big 2/7 favourite but may not have things all his own way against a player who has shown consistent class on every surface for well over a year now.
Djokovic is looking for his fourth consecutive Grand Slam title and beat Nadal in both of their meetings on clay last year.
However, Nadal has seen off Djokovic twice on the surface already this year and hasn’t dropped a set en route to the final. In fact, he’s only been taken to a tie-break on one occasion in Paris such has been his dominance.
It’s hard to see beyond a win for Nadal but Djokovic was incredibly classy in his dismantling of Rodger Federer in his semi final and took just over two hours to see off the Swiss 6-4 7-5 6-3.
The best way of picking up some decent cash looks to be backing Nadal to win but with Djokovic to take a set or two.
Nadal to win three sets to one is currently 5/2 while another five set epic with Nadal winning – as it was when the pair met in the final of the Australian Open earlier this year – can be backed at 11/2.
