England 16/1 to win Euro 2012 for short time only
Published:Ladbrokes are running a special promotion on England winning Euro 2012, offering enhanced odds of 16/1 for just a short period.
The offer is only available until 22:00 on June 2nd, with patriotic punters believing Roy Hodgson can lead England to a first big-tournament success since 1966 advised to jump on board quickly.
England’s preparations have been far from ideal, with experienced midfielders Gareth Barry and Frank Lampard already having to be withdrawn in the short time since Hodgson named his final 23.
Phil Jagielka and Jordan Henderson have been called up as squad replacements, but England do still have enough quality in their ranks to reach the latter stages of the tournament.
Group D looks one of the easiest of the four on paper, although they will have to improve on their relatively poor record with Sweden to advance and probably beat co-hosts Ukraine, who will undoubtedly be well supported with ticket sales low from travelling fans.
France are the favourites to win the group, but once the knockout stages are underway, anything can happen as Greece proved when surprise victors of the European Championships in 2004.
