Tottenham may just lead Liverpool and Newcastle in race for Moses
Published:Wigan host Wolves this weekend in what looks like a Premier League dead rubber, but it could be pivotal for being the final game for the Latics of Victor Moses.
Moses has been instrumental as Wigan have won six of their last eight games, a run which includes successes at Anfield and the Emirates, alongside home victories over Manchester United and Newcastle.
Wigan’s odds are 4/7 to beat Wolves, with Moses 6/1 to open the scoring and 7/4 to strike at any point inside the 90 minutes.
It would certainly be fitting if Moses did have an impact on the result, given that he is looking to engineer a move away from the club in the summer.
With only a year remaining on his Wigan contract, Moses’ eyes have been opened to a lucrative move.
Wigan are fully aware that they are a selling club and so it is unlikely that they will stand in Moses’ way, assuming that the price is right.
Early reports suggest Wigan will want £10m for Moses, but this could still prove a snip for a 21-year-old with untapped potential.
Aston Villa paid a similar sum for Ashley Young from Watford when he was still a relative unknown and he has since developed into an England international.
After a largely disappointing season and a shortage of wide options, Liverpool are towards the front of the queue to sign Moses and they have not been afraid to spend heavily on English talent in the past.
Meanwhile, Newcastle will want to build on a successful season and Martin O’Neill’s record with younger players may tempt Moses to Sunderland.
But it is Tottenham who look to lead the race as they could offer Moses a route back to London and the opportunity to potentially play in the Champions League.
Yet before making any decision, Moses may want to consider the fortunes of Charles N’Zogbia, who has failed to have the same impact at Aston Villa since leaving Wigan last summer.
