Tevez controversy sees him short-price for Manchester City exit
Published:Controversy has surrounded Carlos Tevez throughout this season at Manchester City, and following more unsavoury antics during Monday’s celebratory title parade, he is now 6/4 to leave the club this summer.
After ignoring his manager’s instructions earlier in the season, and partaking in a lengthy unauthorized absence from the club, the forward sparked further controversy with his actions during City’s open-top bus parade.
The former Manchester United striker held a sign reading, “RIP Fergie,” as a blatant dig to legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and as such was cut to 6/4 to make a summer exit.
With disrespect of this scale attributed to a figure of such global standing in the game, Tevez’s position in Manchester could become untenable, though his popularity with City fans could rise once again.
Those who believe he will remain at City will therefore take interest in a number of other markets on Tevez, and he can be backed to score at Old Trafford next season at 2/1.
Meanwhile, Ferguson’s reaction to the incident can also be wagered on, with a 25/1 price attributed to the possibility of him lodging an official complaint to Man City and/or the Premier League.
Alternatively, it is 50/1 that the United boss refuses to attend the Etihad stadium meeting of the sides next season in protest, though this looks unlikely.
Another City player to cause a stir on Monday night meanwhile, was, perhaps somewhat predictably, Mario Balotelli.
Conspicuous by his absence, a failure to attend the parade has sparked notions that Balotelli will not be a City player for much longer, and he is now 5/6 to leave the club this summer.
The Italian striker is the same price to remain with the Premier League champions though, and he alluded that he would like to in the aftermath of Sunday’s game.
It remains to be seen whether or not his relationship with City manager Roberto Mancini is repairable however.
