QPR in grave danger as Blackburn stare at Premier League abyss

Blackburn Rovers’ 2-0 defeat away to Tottenham on Sunday has all but confirmed their relegation in the eyes of Ladbrokes, who now go 1/50 Rovers finish in the bottom three.

A home match with Wigan and a trip to Chelsea make up the remaining fixtures for Steve Kean’s demoralised squad, with the manager outlining his belief that they need four points from those matches to have any chance.

Failure to register a single shot during Sunday’s White Hart Lane outing suggests that this looks well beyond them, and it now looks almost certain they will be condemned to relegation for the first time in 13 years.

There are three teams who could potentially join or replace them in the drop zone, though 16/1 chances Wigan and Aston Villa look to have done enough to avoid the drop, sitting six points clear of 19th placed Rovers with two games remaining.

QPR, just outside the relegation places in 17th, look in perilous danger though, with the visit of a battle-hardened Stoke outfit to come, as well as a daunting trip to Manchester City on the final day of the season.

This, along with 18th placed Bolton being behind the Londoners only on goal difference and with a game in hand, makes Mark Hughes’ men look good value at 8/13 for the drop.

The Rs have a dismal record on the road, the worst in the Premier League, and will face a City side unbeaten all season at Eastlands, possibly in the hunt to clinch the title.

Meanwhile, whilst Bolton’s upcoming fixtures aren’t particularly appetising, the fact that two of their three upcoming opponents have nothing to play for could deter punters from backing them at 11/8 to go down.

A recent upsurge in form has seen the Trotters give themselves a superb chance of avoiding relegation, and a continuation of this run will see them swap places with QPR.
