New England boss Roy Hodgson fancied to see out his contract

Published:

While the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the new England manager was greeted with indifference from the English public, Ladbrokes at least appear to have faith in the former Liverpool boss.

The 64-year-old has been installed at 2/9 to manage what Fabio Capello couldn’t and see out his four-year contract.

The deal will see him take charge for this summer’s European Championships, through the next World Cup and beyond to the 2016 Euros.

If you remain as pessimistic as the British tabloids though, then the 3/1 offered for him to be gone before then looks like a tempting investment.

However, things aren’t so good in the silverware stakes for the current West Bromwich Albion boss and he is 8/1 to win a major championship – odds which still appear rather short considering England’s record at major championships.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We’re confident Hodgson will see out his contract but not so bullish when it comes to silverware prospects.”
