Donald has BMW track record, but McIlroy and Quiros better prices
Published:It is hard to back against Luke Donald winning the BMW Championship given his past performances in the event and the incentives resting on his shoulders, but at 8/1 he is worth taking on to secure victory at Wentworth.
Donald got the better of Lee Westwood in the tournament 12 months ago and this result followed on from a third-place finish in 2010.
These results are hard to argue with, while Donald has also been in fine recent form with four top-six finishes in his last six events.
Meanwhile, he warmed up for the tournament by finishing sixth at the Players Championship, where he made a solid late charge with a 66 in the closing round.
Furthermore, Donald will know that a victory in the BMW Championship will ensure that he recaptures his spot at the head of the world rankings.
Rory McIlroy currently tops the rankings and will be equally eager to remain there after some contrasting results of late.
After winning the Honda Classic on the PGA Tour in March and then taking third in the WGC-Cadillac Championship, McIlroy has lost some form since falling apart midway through the Masters.
However, if McIlroy was good enough to be priced at 4/1 to win the Masters, then he has to come into consideration at 12/1 to win the BMW Championship.
Elsewhere, Alvaro Quiros can be backed at 66/1 to triumph and he has typically performed with credit in the event.
Quiros finished 18th last year and 16th in 2009 and his power from the tee could prove a particular weapon over the final two holes, which are both par 5s and possible to birdie.
The Spaniard also seemed as if he was rediscovering some of his best form in the World Match Play Championship in reaching the quarter finals and certainly knows what it takes to win on the European Tour, with six previous victories.
