Arsenal victory at West Brom would ensure third place finish

West Brom will look to give England-bound Roy Hodgson the perfect send-off by beating Arsenal this weekend, though they could struggle to do so at 7/2 at the Hawthorns.

The Gunners, unlike their hosts, have everything to play for, knowing that victory at 7/10 would secure third place, and guarantee Champions League qualification for next season.

Meanwhile, the draw is priced at 11/4, though this has been the least regular result that either side has achieved throughout the course of the campaign.

That said, West Brom come into this game having drawn their last two matches, whilst Arsenal have played out stalemates in their last three, so some punters could be tempted by the prospect of the sides cancelling each other out on Sunday.

The Baggies are in fact unbeaten in their last four Premier League fixtures, though it is worth noting that Hodgson’s side have been more impressive on the road this term, than on their own patch.

Arsenal, in contrast, have failed to win in their last four, with this run coming in the aftermath of a tremendous streak which saw them suffer only one defeat in 11 league outings.

Their greater need for the points will see them fired up for this match though, knowing that three points will see them beat great rivals Tottenham to third spot.

Chelsea’s entry in this year’s Champions League final means that only a third place finish will guarantee a spot in next year’s competition, meaning this game takes on even more significance for Arsene Wenger’s side.

As the league’s fourth best away side, Arsenal should be expected to justify 7/10 odds to claim the victory they need to guarantee a place in next year’s elite European competition.
