3,000 bets per minute to be placed during Super Sunday

3,000 BETS a minute will be placed during the Premier League matches this weekend according to Ladbrokes.

In what’s being billed as the greatest ever finale to a Premier League season, with all games going down to the wire, the firm are anticipating 3,000 bets will be placed per minute from kick-off until full-time on Super Sunday.

The title has changed hands no less than 12 times this season, which is a Premier League first, however, with Manchester City at 1/9 it doesn’t look like the top spot will swap round for one final time enabling Manchester United (5/1) to pick up their 20th league trophy.

With both teams at odds-on, the bookies are confident that City (1/7) and United (2/5) will beat QPR (16/1) and Sunderland (13/2) respectively, leaving the title to be decided by goal difference (2/5). But should either team slip up it’s 7/4 points is the decisive factor for one half of Manchester.

Arsenal’s result to Norwich last weekend may have dented their confidence but they remain the odds-on favourites at 4/9 to finish third over Spurs (13/8) and Newcastle (25/1). With rumours circulating about Bale’s move to Barcelona, and Chelsea threatening their Champions League future, Spurs (2/5) head into their match against Fulham (7/1) as the favourites but Martin Jol could return to the Lane to cause an upset to his former team.

Relegated Blackburn’s (8/1) trip to sixth placed Chelsea (3/10) is the only fixture in the entire card without other results riding on it, and so far punters are hoping the home side will heap more misery on Steve Kean’s men with Ramires being heavily backed to score the first goal at 7/1. Bolton (7/4) travel to the Britannia stadium but at 11/8 it looks like Stoke City will condemn them to Championship football next year.

And should all 20 teams want to go out with a bang it’s 240/1 that every side finds the back of the net this weekend.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “This is the most fascinating end to a season in Premier League history. If the games are as intense as we’re expecting it will be one of the biggest turnovers for in-play betting ever.”

She added: “With something at stake in almost every match it’s going to be a betting bonanza, sending this season’s Premier League turnover through the roof. It might be going down to the wire but the odds still suggest that City will do the business.”
