Women set to bet £100m as Coleen’s hot to trot in pink

British women are estimated to bet up to £100m on the Grand National this weekend, according to Ladbrokes.

As the big race approaches on Saturday afternoon women all over the country are anticipated to flutter around £100 million – which would be more than ever before – thanks to the likes of Coleen Rooney who’s reviving the glamour in the sport.

Coleen’s known to love the Ladies Day action, and with her and Wayne’s horse (Switcharooney) wearing pink silks, the bookies have chalked up pink as the 2/1 favourite to be the colour of her dress tomorrow. Purple is fancied by punters at 3/1, however her choice of nude from last year is among the outsiders at 14/1.

It’s odds-on at 1/2 that Mrs Rooney struts her stuff round Aintree in a pair of her favourite Christian Louboutin heels.

History can also be made on the track if a female jockey wins the Grand National for the first time ever, and the firm are predicting Katie Walsh on board Seabass (14/1) could be the woman the break the record books. There’s a 16/1 chance that the winning horse is trained by a lady.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Horse racing has never been so glamorous and the odds suggest female punters betting on the Grand National are going to go through the roof.”

She added: “Betting on Coleen’s outfit is becoming as prestigious a market as the colour of the Queen’s hat at Royal Ascot!”
