Tottenham v Blackburn: hosts can end dismal run with tough win

Published:

They may be at opposite ends of the table, but the form guide makes grim reading for both Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers.

Spurs have taken just six points from a possible 27 in their last nine league games, while Rovers have won just one of their previous six.

That was in their last game at home to Norwich though and, with both teams struggling to pick up wins and confidence, this has all the makings of a tight game…

Match odds

Despite slipping to fifth in the Premier League and out of the Champions League places, Spurs are still big favourites for this game at 2/5.

They have won their previous five clashes against Rovers and have tasted defeat just twice in their last 16 against the Lancashire side in all competitions.

Rovers – who are 7/1 to pick up all three points – have won just twice on the road this season (against Wolves and Manchester United) and have kept just one clean sheet away from Ewood Park.

With Steve Kean’s men collapsing to a 3-0 hammering against an out-of-form Swansea City in their last away game, Spurs look good to keep the pressure on Newcastle United in fourth.

Goal markets

There hasn’t been a goalless draw between these two since August 2005 and, with Rovers having the worst away defence in the division, backing over 2.5 goals looks worth consideration even at 1/2.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Adebayor looks like being reintroduced to the side and he can be backed at 4/1 to find the net first.
