Redknapp looks to be nearing England job for Euro 2012 again
Published:Harry Redknapp was once as short as 1/7 to be the next permanent England manager and although this price has now drifted to 1/3, the latest developments suggest that he is still in pole position for the role.
Despite, Tottenham not having to play Arsenal again this season and it being three weeks until they take on QPR, Redknapp was present for the clash between the pair at Loftus Road this weekend.
What was particularly noteworthy was that FA chairman David Bernstein was also in attendance and sat a little more than a foot away from Redknapp and there seemed little real reason for either to need to be present.
Furthermore, Gareth Bale has spoken out on how he feels the England opportunity is one of those that comes along once in a lifetime and Redknapp cannot be blamed for leaving Tottenham to take over in the national hotseat.
Euro 2012 is rapidly approaching and the FA have already been criticised in some quarters for their delay in appointing a successor to Fabio Capello.
Roy Hodgson is the other name that has been most heavily linked and be can be backed at 4/1, but like Redknapp the FA are reluctant to disrupt the campaign of a Premier League club before the end of the season.
Another development that seems to favour Redknapp is the comments from Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers has chosen now to indicate that he has a clause in his Swansea contract which means that any club wanting to sign him from the Welsh outfit will have to pay the club compensation.
Meanwhile, he added that although he is happy in Swansea at present, he would also love to take the reins of a club in the Champions League one day.
If Redknapp does leave, Rodgers may be on the Spurs radar, especially given the style of football he has brought to Swansea this season.
