Recent history suggests Liverpool will better Everton to make final

Seven time winners of the competition, Liverpool are priced at 7/5 to beat Everton in 90 minutes and reach another FA Cup final this weekend.

The Wembley encounter gives Everton the chance to progress to the final for the second time in three years, and David Moyes’ outfit are a 2/1 chance for success.

Their recent form would suggest that they look the best bet going into the game, which is 11/5 to reach extra-time, though their record against Liverpool recently seems to indicate that the Reds look good to triumph.

Kenny Dalglish’s side have won four of the past six Merseyside derbies, losing just once, and his team’s far superior showing in cup competition this season makes the Anfield outfit look an appealing proposition to reach Wembley for a third time this season.

Superior big-game experience will also count in the Reds’ favour, and Dalglish will be desperate to salvage a season that has tailed off spectacularly in terms of league performance.

A domestic double would ensure an alleviation of pressure surrounding him, and would answer questions regarding his suitability as manager of Liverpool, and the Scot will be eager to add to his Carling Cup success earlier in the year with the more prestigious FA Cup, which he lifted twice as a Reds player.

All this said, Everton did come out on top in the last FA Cup meeting of the sides, when a late extra-time winner saw the Toffees advance to the fifth round before eventually making the final.

Though they would appear primed to achieve another success over their great city rivals this time round judging by the respective league form of either side, Liverpool’s big game experience could prove crucial for the 7/5 shots at Wembley.
