Neville can challenge Tiziano for excitable commentator mantle

Published:

Gary Neville struggled to contain his emotions as Fernando Torres scored at the Nou Camp last night, and Ladbrokes are now offering 20/1 that he cries on air during Monday night’s Manchester derby.

Neville’s exclamations late in the game were similar to those of Ladbrokes TV advert star Tiziano Crudeli, and the Sky pundit has been offered a role alongside Tiziano in an upcoming ad campaign.

In what has the potential to be a title decider at Eastlands on Monday though, emotions are sure to run high once again, and ardent United supporter Neville could struggle to conceal his excitement once more.

As well as being able to back Neville at 20/1 to ‘do a Tiziano’ by crying live on television, he is a 1/5 chance to coin the phrase ‘game on,’ which will surely occur should United level from a goal down.

It is 6/1 that Neville joins his former teammates in an on-pitch celebration should they triumph too, though that appears far-fetched even for a man as fiercely loyal to the Red Devils as he is.

What appears to have more realistic hopes is the 25/1 odds about Neville using the word ‘incredible’ at some point during the Manchester collision, whilst 40/1 odds are attributed to the former right-back proclaiming ‘fantastico,’ and 100/1 regarding him mentioning ‘free bet.’

After an eventful first season out of the game, Neville has divided opinion amongst football fans and people within the game alike, in reaction to his often forthright views.

It is just 2/1 that he lectures at a University on the subject of commentary, punditry, or broadcasting by 2020, whilst it is a 100/1 chance that he has opened his own school on one of these subjects by the same date.

Meanwhile, he is a 20/1 shot to be included on TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential list for 2013, and judging by the waves he has made in his first season as a pundit, that could be worth some interest.
