Gomez and Heynckes vow to attack Madrid in the Bernabeu

Bayern Munich’s hero from the first leg has said his side will not employ a defensive gameplan when the two meet again in Madrid.

Mario Gomez, who scored the winner in the Allianz Arena, has promised the Germans, who are 11/10 to qualify for the final, will score goals.

“We will attack, just as Real will do,” the German international said.

“If we put in a performance like we did in the home leg, we will get into the final.”

The former Stuttgart striker’s confidence is understandable after the Bavarian side put in a fantastic display against the La Liga leaders, and arguably should have scored more than the two goals they managed, and he is 8/1 to break the deadlock and net a crucial away goal.

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes shares his hitman’s belief that his side can go to the Spanish capital and beat Los Blancos at their own game.

“For us it is clear, that we will have to score one or two goals,” he explained to the club’s website.

“We are in a position to do this, we have outstanding attacking players.

“Madrid have huge respect for us. They have to after the first leg.”

With the promise of an attacking performance punters should consider a price of 11/5 on the Munich side notching 2-3 goals.

Madrid, who have odds of 4/6 to qualify for the final, believe that home advantage in the imposing surroundings of the Santiago Bernabeu will mean they can deny the visitors the chance to contest the final on their own turf.

However, £80 million man, and 11/4 favourite to open the scoring, Cristiano Ronaldo, is also wary of Bayern’s attacking prowess.

“We will have to be very careful on the four guys who play up front because one of them will try to make the difference.”

Neither side has any new injury worries going into this semi-final second leg, but both have players who could miss the final if booked, with Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos amongst four for the hosts and Philipp Lahm one of seven for the leaders.
