Dortmund v Bayern Munich: hosts to edge Bundesliga title decider

Published:

A Bundesliga crunch clash will take place at the Westfalenstadion on Wednesday night, with Borussia Dortmund priced at 6/4 to beat Bayern Munich and take a giant step towards successive league titles.

Their visitors are a 17/10 chance to secure the victory that would see them go level on points with Dortmund, and with just five games to go, a win is essential to keep their title hopes alive.

The draw can be backed at 12/5, but as none of the past six encounters between the teams have ended level, it could be sensible to avoid getting behind this outcome.

In fact, Dortmund have triumphed on each of the past three occasions that the teams have met, and whilst Bayern have looked superb in European competition this season, Jurgen Klopp’s men look good to win again here, with the 1-0 scoreline they achieved at the Allianz Arena earlier in the season a 7/1 shot.

Punters may be inclined to expect more goals however, from sides that have racked up 135 goals between them in league competition so far, and so backing Dortmund to win a match which features over three goals is an appealing proposition at 16/5.

The home side have earned a reputation for getting off on the front foot this term too, leading by half-time in an impressive 17 of 29 Bundesliga ties, and it could pay dividends to back them to be ahead by the break and at the final whistle at 10/3 here too.

Braver punters may also take an interest in the big 6/1 odds on offer for Dortmund to win both halves.

Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has shown his true credentials in this campaign, scoring 19 times in 29 appearances, and appears a decent bet at 5/1 to hit the opener on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Mario Gomez is one of the hottest striking talents on the planet at the minute, and is an understandable 4/1 favourite to score first for the visitors.
